How To Start Creating An Account On YouTube

You may have thought about joining YouTube in the past, but stopped when you realized that you didn’t have any videos to share. This actually isn’t a problem; you can be a member without uploading any videos at all.
Most YouTube users don’t even have a single video uploaded. They just use their accounts to participate in the YouTube community, leaving comments on videos and rating them. You do need a user account to utilize these features of the site, however. Here’s how to register your own YouTube account.
Signing up for YouTube account is quite easy. It’s actually simpler than even creating an email account in some cases.
Click the “Create Account” link at the top of YouTube’s homepage. This will take you to the signup page, which will ask you to provide a username. You’ll need a username that no one else has, and there are lots of YouTube members, so you might have to choose something very unique or add numbers to the end of your chosen username.
Next, the site will ask you to provide your location, birthdate, and gender. The location you choose will determine your the features available to you as well as the kind of videos that YouTube suggests for you. You can always change your location later if you’re not happy with the outcome.
YouTube uses your date of birth to determine whether you’re eligible to view videos intended for audiences. Your selection for gender doesn’t seem to have any effect on your account; it’s most likely used for demographic tracking purposes by YouTube, allowing them to analyze the viewing habits of men and women.
If you want your friends to be able to find your YouTube account by your email address, check the appropriate box. This will allow your friends to see that you’ve joined YouTube and add your profile as a friend.
There’s one more box to check: the one that determines whether or not you’ll receive updates from YouTube. As the site already sends you a fair amount of email, I’d recommend keeping this box unchecked. Finally, click on the “I Accept” button at the bottom of the page, which signifies that you’ve read YouTube’s Terms of Service.
Now that your account is created, you can get out there and start participating in the YouTube community!
